When will Asia Cup 2023 schedule be unveiled?

The excitement among cricket fans has been rising as two of the most-anticipated events in the game, Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023, are about to happen.

Last week, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the Men's Cricket World Cup, which is slated to begin in October. However, the schedule for the controversy-riddled regional event Asia Cup is yet to be revealed.

As per the latest updates, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) schedule will be unveiled this week.

A report by InsideSport stated that the reason behind the delay in schedule is the weather in Sri Lanka, which will host the second phase of the Asia Cup.

The ACC was keen on organising the India-Pakistan match in Colombo, however, the weather could result in the match taking place in Dambulla.

“There are some last-minute details to go over. The tentative schedule has been shared with the members. It should be out by this week. Colombo is an issue due to the monsoon season. We would have ideally hoped for the India vs Pakistan match in Colombo but rain could be an issue,” a BCCI official told InsideSport.

A hybrid model will be used for the Asia Cup this year after India refused to tour Pakistan for the event due to security concerns.

The Asia Cup's first phase, containing four matches, will be played in Pakistan. However, the event will move to Sri Lanka for the remaining matches, including the knockout stage. The Island country will host nine matches.

The cricket tournament will be played from August 31 to September 17 in the 50-over format.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal will compete in a total of 13 ODI matches.

These teams are divided into two groups with Group A including Pakistan, India and Nepal. Meanwhile, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are in Group B.
