French fireman Johnathan Vero has broken two world records in one go by sprinting 100 metres in 17 seconds and then continuing the run for another 172 meters with his whole body set on fire and any without oxygen supply, Guinness World Records announced.
The 39-year-old firefighter is also a part-time stuntman and broke both records in his hometown of Haubourdin, France.
He looked like a human torch, as the fire was burning on the protective suit while he was running without oxygen for more than 200 meters.
The video of Vero went viral on social media as the GWR uploaded it with people expressing their amazement over the unusual and difficult run. The video was viewed by nearly three million people on Twitter and Instagram.
He broke the previous record of 7.58 seconds made by a British citizen named Antony Britton by 17 seconds.
The Washington Times reported that Vero would keep running another 172.25 meters, with a total distance of 272.25 meters (893 feet), breaking that record too, also previously held by Britton.
These records have been highly competitive as people have been setting new records since it was first set by Briton Keith Malcolm in 2009.
After breaking the record, Vero said: "This performance has a lot of meaning for me, for my job as a firefighter and for the people who trained me and watched me grow."
Achieving these Guinness World Records titles was a childhood dream, said Jonathan, adding that he "strived every day" to make it a reality.
He stated that "I’ve still got a lot to try and a lot of records to go for."
