Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are working on their separate brands to retain longevity of their name, notes expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are parting their professional ways with different career plans, will not be seen as different names.

However, this might create problems for the couple as fans wanted "a piece of Harry and Meghan" together.

Royal expert Russell Myers tells Sky News Australia: "Meghan has apparently signed this deal with a talent agency on her own. When we were talking about the Sussexes it was very much about 'brand Harry and Meghan, Meghan and Harry'. Everybody wanted a piece of them together.

"We had the Oprah programme, the Netflix series, the Spotify deals that were being talked about for big, big money.

He notes: "And now that brand has sort of been watered down, hasn't it? Because there has been an awful lot of toxicity with their dealings between them and the Royal Family. What does it mean for them moving forward?

"I definitely think they will want to take stock of the last couple of years. Maybe take their foot off the gas and work out what their brand means for longevity purposes and maybe that means going in separate directions will be the best thing for them."
