24-year-old Peso Pluma's latest album has helped him reach a new milestone on Billboard.
Pluma's new album 'Genesis' rose from No. 35 to No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart and also jumped from No. 10 to No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. This marks Peso Pluma's first No. 1 album on any chart.
"Génesis" debuted on both charts the previous week with only one day of tracking activity. The album was initially released on an off-cycle Thursday, June 22, with 14 tracks. A new version of "Génesis" with three bonus tracks was released on June 30. Both versions are combined for tracking and charting purposes, while the original version has been removed from platforms.
According to Luminate, "Génesis" earned 73,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during its first official tracking week, ending on June 29.
Streaming had a big part in "Génesis"'s success, accounting for the majority of its first-week units. Out of the 73,000 units, 72,000 were streaming equivalent album units (SEA). This translates to approximately 101.18 million on-demand official streams for the album's songs. Traditional album sales contributed fewer than 1,000 units, while a negligible number came from track equivalent album units (TEA).
With 101.8 million streams, "Génesis" secures the record for the largest streaming week ever for a regional Mexican album. Previously, Eslabon Armado's "Desvelado" held the record with 63.51 million streams.
Additionally, "Génesis" became only the fifth Latin album to surpass 100 million on-demand streams for its songs in a single week.
