SIBI: Eleven people including 2 children lost their lives while 26 others sustained wounds when a remote controlled bomb planted in a Riksha went off at Nishter Road in Sibi this afternoon, Geo News reported Thursday.

The powerful explosion took place at 2:10 pm, spreading a wave of shock and fear among the area people.

Three people were killed on the spot while 8 others succumbed to their injuries later at a hospital during treatment. Several other injured are still receiving medical aid at a hospital where they were shifted in police mobile vans and ambulances soon after the blast.

The police said the blast was carried out with the help of a remote controlled explosives device which had been planted in a Rikshaw. Around 20 to 25 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.

A number of shops and houses were also damaged while the supply of electricity was disrupted as a result of supply lines coming to the ground.
