KARACHI: Police on Monday baton-charged disabled people protesting outside Sindh Assembly for government jobs.
The police resorted to baton-charge when protesters reached the Sindh Assembly gate and demanded jobs in the public sector as per quota for disabled persons. Police also dragged women protesters on the road.
Police claimed the protesters were striving to enter the Sindh Assembly, triggering a clash with police.
Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Ahmed Siyal has taken notice of the incident and constituted a committee to investigate and present a report in three days.
Sohail Siyal and Local Bodies Minister Nasir Shah also met the protesting disabled persons and condemned the baton-charge on them by police.
They also assured the disabled people that they would be provided jobs in government departments where job vacancies are available.
