Court fines Lahore doctor Rs227 mln over medical negligence

LAHORE: A consumer court on Monday fined a doctor Rs227.2 million for neglecting medical treatment of a three-month-old infant girl.

Syed Ali Murtaza, the father of the ill child, had prayed before the court that his daughter was under Dr Tahir Masood’s treatment at the Children’s Hospital.

However, due to medical negligence of Dr Masood, he had to take his daughter to London for her liver transplant as she contracted liver disease during the treatment in Lahore.

The court directed Health Care Commission to take action Dr Tahir Masood for neglecting his professional duties.
