Actor Danny Masterson has been expelled from the Church of Scientology following his recent rape conviction, which resulted in a 30-year prison sentence.

Masterson has been labeled a "suppressive person" (or 'SP') by the church, meaning that fellow Scientologists, including his wife Bijou Phillips and family, are required to sever all ties with him.

However, despite the expulsion, the church continues to assert Masterson's innocence in sexual assault and rape case, as per insiders.

The revelation of Masterson's expulsion came from private investigator Jeffrey Augustine, a former Scientologist, who shared the news on his website, The Scientology Money Project.

Augustine shed light on the reasons behind the church's decision, which came as a surprise to many. He stated that the church had not intended to make the information public and is still maintaining to its members that Masterson is innocent, attributing his conviction to a conspiracy involving former Scientologist Leah Remini and other disgruntled ex-members.

Augustine also says that The Ranch star may not be aware of his expulsion until others within the church sever ties with him.

"I don't think Bijou wants to visit him in prison ever. She was just awarded custody of their daughter," said Augustine.

"I personally think Bijou Phillips will leave the Church of Scientology, that's my prediction. It's brought her nothing but grief, heartache and sorrow," he added.
