KARACHI: Lady Health Workers protested outside the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday against non-payment of their salaries for five months.
The protest started in the morning from the Press Club as the Lady Health Workers proceeding to the Sindh High Court (SHC) where a sit-in was staged and slogans were chanted.
The Lady Health Workers marched towards the Sindh Assembly when their negotiations failed with officials outside the SHC. The protestors staged a sit-in at the main assembly gate after being restricted by the police from moving further.
During the protest there were traffic jams witnessed in areas near the Sindh Assembly.
Four Lady Health Workers fainted outside the Sindh Assembly and were shifted to a local hospital.
Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah also arrived at the assembly during the protest but did not meet the protestors. Later, Sindh Information Minister Nisar Khuhro met with the Lady Health Workers and assured them that their salaries would be paid, following which the protest came to an end.
