Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp is up to releasing another feature for its desktop version, "making it easier" for users to search the messages on the platform, WABetaInfo reported.

The new "search message by date" feature will be rolled out to some beta testers, allowing them to quickly search for messages shared on a specific date within their conversations.

"Thanks to this feature, WhatsApp would have offered users a more efficient and convenient way to navigate through their message history when searching for messages," the WhatsApp news tracker said.

The enhanced search functionality will simplify the process of finding any conversation from a specific date or retrieving important information about a past event.

As seen in this screenshot, the users can pick a date from the date picker panel which pops up by clicking the calendar button — available once the update takes place — and search the messages from a specific date.

However, the feature will initially be available to some beta testers having the latest version of WhatsApp Web and will be rolled out to more users in the coming days.

As per WABetaInfo, the introduction of the date-based search feature finally makes it possible to quickly locate messages from a particular date.

"This not only saves time but also reduces the frustration of scrolling through long chat histories."

More specifically, the feature will be helpful in looking for non-text messages, such as voice notes, which are complicated to retrieve since those without text transcriptions cannot be searched, or when users are unable to recall the exact wording in a text message.
