Angel City FC denounced the "recent actions and statements" of Stefany Ferrer Van Ginkel, a former player, who seems to be caught on camera flashing a Nazi salute to pro-Israel protesters in Beverly Hills last Sunday (November 5).

The video showing Ferrer Van Ginkel allegedly yelling "Heil Hitler!" and making the Sieg Heil salute out of the passenger side window of a car driven by a man, went viral instantly after it was recently posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, by the watchdog group StopAntisemitism.

The pro-Israeli audience responded to her move shouting, "Shame on you!"

The Beverly Hills Police Department said in an email to The Times on Thursday morning that the incident is being reviewed.

“The rally did take place on Sunday, November 5th, 2023, in the City of Beverly Hills. Our Department is aware of the video/incident that occurred during that rally,” Sergeant Jeffrey Newman wrote.

“The incident is currently being reviewed, and I do not want to speculate on further information at this time. Our Department respects the importance of protected speech, but will also actively investigate any criminal acts that may have occurred.”

In response to Ferrer Van Ginkel's latest move and amid rising tensions over the Israel-Hamas war in the US, Angel City FC took to X to announce that it was distancing itself from the player.

The 25-year-old midfielder posted a video to her Instagram account on the night after the incident, before the account was deactivated, that appeared to address the incident at the rally.

In the clip, Ferrer Van Ginkel sits silently next to a man, who offers an apology on behalf of both of them.

“I know we have approached the situation with hate and made it worse with our actions,” the man says in the video.

“We acted childish and it’s the wrong way to approach any situation that we live in. All we can do is become better, learn a lesson from this. We cannot change the past. And we just wanted to apologise and ask for you guys to understand and stop the hate. We just wanna spread love from now on. We understand we did the wrong thing.”

Ferrer Van Ginkel grew up in Brazil, appeared in a British reality show and played with Tigres of Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil before playing for Angel City during its inaugural season in 2022.

However, her contract was not renewed after that campaign, and she does not seem to have played professionally since then.
