QUETTA: Quetta division is a resource-rich area of the Balochistan, however water scarcity has badly hit the agriculture and livestock sector, said additional commissioner Quetta division Syed Zafar Bukhari while talking to the delegation of Civil Service Academy Lahore here at Commissioner office on Wednesday.
He said that in view of the alarming depleting of the water level in Quetta division, steps were being put in place on war-footings to overcome the issue.
"Several projects including construction of small and big dams were underway to cop with the challenge faced by the millions of people living in the division", he added.
AC said that Quetta division shares border with Iran and Afghanistan due to which the trade activities in this part of the province always remained on its peak.
He informed the delegation that work on the 649 development schemes were in progress, which would start benefiting masses once completed.
Deputy Commissioner Quetta division Mohammad Hashim Ghilzai and chief metropolitan corporation Mohammad Yaqoob Zehri were also present on the occasion. (APP)
