HYDERABAD: After Karachi, the traders and industrialists of Hyderabad have warned the government of severe protest including shutter down strikes if it failed to control the target killings and other heinous crimes in the city.
“Peace should be restored and the traders be provided security in four days or otherwise the traders and industrialists would consider observing shutter down strike,” said representatives of different associations at a meeting presided over by Goharullah, president, Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry here on Saturday.
HCCI chief said SSP Hyderabad would be invited to discuss the situation, as it would deteriorate further if no action were taken timely.
“It is matter of grave concern that a particular community is being targeted at the start of Muharamul Haram.
“The performance of police and Citizen-Police Liaison Committee is disappointing. The CPLC has become the hub of politics and the traders would apprise the SSP of their reservations about it,” he said.
Former president HCCI Shafique Ahmed Qureshi, chairman of Tajir Dost Panel Amad Siddiqui, Turab Ali Khuwaja and others also spoke at the meeting and urged authorities to take serious note of deteriorating law & order situation in Hyderabad once known as peaceful city. They told that so far 11 persons have been killed in Hyderabad.
The trade leaders said people are panicked due to such a situation and feel afraid while leaving homes. They urged for posting honest officials and giving free hand to combat criminals with iron hand. They also criticized the police for its attitude with traders.
The traders also discussed other issue including sanitation, dilapidated roads, open sale of narcotics etc. (PPI)
