In a rather shocking development, veteran wrestler CM Punk and WWE star Randy Orton returned to WWE Survivor Series leaving fans around the world in absolute awe.

Phil Brooks, known as "CM Punk", immediately became a fan favourite ever since his 2006 debut. However, he parted ways with the organisation in 2014 and has since then often voiced his concerns over the organisation's storyline and insufficient medical care for him, BBC reported.

His return to the WWE comes after he left the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) — which he joined in 2021 — earlier this year.

There had been rumours hinting at Punk's return to the WWE which essentially was made possible in the 11th hour as confirmed by WWE's chief content officer Triple H.

"This was one of those lightning-in-a-bottle moments that came together very quickly, but we are incredibly excited about it," Triple H said in a press conference.

However, the hyped-up fans — who cheered as CM Punk made a shocking WWE return in his hometown — didn't get to see their favourite wrestler in action as he didn't even get inside the ring as he didn't have a match.

Earlier, another WWE superstar Randy Orton also returned to the WWE after more than a year's hiatus due to an injury.

The Allstate Arena went into a frenzy when Orton’s theme song “Voices” was played as the fans, who had been eagerly waiting for their icon to return for a long time, knew they were about to see their favourite.

The "Viper", entered the arena when Team Cody Rhoades were being battered by The Judgment Day, and quickly took out each member of the latter group one by one with his vintage moves that are memorised by every single WWE fan who grew up watching The Legend Killer.
