MULTAN: President Asif Ali Zardari met with former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani to address the grievances of the Gilani family.
During their one on one meeting the two discussed FIA notices issued to the Gilani family. The FIA had summoned Yusuf Raza Gilani and his son MNA Abdul Qadir Gilani on November 16.
The move had prompted the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privilege to seek a written reply from Director General FIA and an investigation officer for issuing the notices.
President Zardari and Yusuf Raza Gilani also discussed probable candidates for the PPP in southern Punjab.
The president also met with parliamentarians from Southern Punjab who advocated the formation of a Sariaki province.
President Zardari said during the meeting that he did not have the required majority to make a Sariaki province. Gilani assured the president that if a bill was presented in parliament for the formation of a Sariaki province, several members of the PML-N would vote for it.
