CANBERRA: Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed was taken for an MRI scan after he complained of discomfort in his right leg on the third day of the four-day game against Prime Minister’s XI on Friday.
According to a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) statement, the leg-spinner was taken off the field after bowling eight overs on Friday.
The board said that following the complaint, the 25-year-old was sent for an MRI scan further details of which will be shared in due course.
It added that a medical panel will assess the MRI reports.
Abrar has bowled a total of 27 overs so far in the game against Prime Minister's XI.
The four-day game was scheduled as part of Pakistan’s preparation ahead of their three-match Test series against Australia, which is set to take place from 14 December 2023 to 7 January 2024.
The Australian tour has always been very tough for the South Asian where they struggle to perform on lively pitches.
Earlier, pacer Haris Rauf also opted out of the three-match Test series citing a lack of match fitness which created a lot of buzz and angered the PCB officials including Chief Selector Wahab Riaz and Team Director Muhammad Hafeez.
