ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Friday that the security situation in Punjab was deteriorating on a daily basis.
Speaking to the media, Malik added that after Karachi and Quetta terrorists were turning their attention towards Lahore.
The Interior Minister also defended the motorcycle riding ban in Karachi and Quetta on Muharram first stating that credible intelligence had been received of motorcycles being used as bombs.
Malik added that the ban was put in place after consultation with the prime minister and Sindh government.
The interior minister also tweeted that the federal government exercised its power under article 148 of the constitution to ban the movement of motorcycles during religious processions in Karachi.
