KARACHI: Mobile phone services have been restored in Karachi and Quetta after they had been shut at 10:00 AM on Friday citing terror threats on Muharram first.

The decision to suspend mobile phone services was made by Interior Minister Rehman Malik. This is the fourth time that services have been suspended this year. The government had also suspended mobile services on Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH).

The interior minister had also announced ban on motorcycle riding for Karachi and Quetta, however the ban was suspended following the intervention of the Sindh High Court.

Malik defended the decision to impose these bans citing credible information pertaining to terror threats.
