The world's leading search engine, Google, has released its annual “Top Trending Searches” for 2023 in Pakistan with TikToker Hareem Shah replacing Pakistani cricketer Naseem Shah, who reigned the list last year.

The tech giant on Monday released its annual list of top search trends in Pakistan this year and it shows that Pakistanis have a diverse range of interests in sports, politics, Bollywood and the lives of content creators.

This year, TikTok star Hareem Shah became a major search trend, followed by YouTuber Aliza Sehar as the second top trending search in Pakistan, while Bollywood star Tiger Shroff made it third on the list.

Cricketers including Abdullah Shafique, Usman Khan, Glen Maxwell, Shubman Gill and others are also among the top 10 trending searches in the country due to cricket tournaments like the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup, Asia Cup and other series.

This year was quite eventful politically as well, especially with the appointment of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar who has been very visible in the media lately and also managed to be among the top trending searches in the country.

Let’s meet Pakistan’s top four trending personalities for 2023.

Hareem Shah

Hareem Shah is a Pakistani social media personality who gained popularity through her TikTok videos and activities in Pakistan’s political scene.

In the second half of this year, she made headlines amid her husband, Bilal Shah's sudden disappearance. She claimed her husband had been “kidnapped for unknown reasons”.

It was later confirmed that her husband was detained by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and was interrogated over the controversial posts published by an account operating under Hareem's name.

Aliza Sehar

Aliza Sehar is a Pakistani YouTuber who describes herself as “a simple girl from a small village in Punjab” in her YouTube bio.

She is known for her countryside-themed videos with 1.7 million subscribers and a substantial following of approximately 3 million followers on TikTok.

However, she recently found herself amid a controversy when a private video call was leaked on social media.

Tiger Shroff

Bollywood heartthrob took third place in Google's top 10 search trends in Pakistan. Veteran Indian actor Jackie Shroff's son is a renowned actor and dance legend.

This year, he made headlines several times, especially for the upcoming release of his new "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" with Akshay Kumar. Earlier this year, rumours circulated online about his death.

Abdullah Shafique

Abdullah Shafique is known to be one of the best Pakistani cricket players. The right-handed top-order batter made his ICC World Cup debut this year wowing audiences with his remarkable performance.

Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan, as a result of their great partnership, became the first pair from Pakistan to "rack up hundreds in a World Cup match" while playing against Sri Lanka, according to ESPNcricinfo.
