ISLAMABAD: A full court reference was held for the retirement of Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk as the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).
During his address Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk said the Supreme Court would act if democracy, the constitution or any institution was threatened in Pakistan.
Justice Jawaad S. Khawaja said Justice Nasirul Mulk resolved complex legal issues amicably. He added that the role of a judge is associated with strict responsibilities.
Justice Khawaja added people have a right to review and comment on court decisions.
Justice Jawwad S Khawaja will assume the charge CJP with effect from August 17, as the incumbent CJP Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk is set to retire on August 16.
