As instant messaging platforms continue to improve their user interface and adapt to users' feedback, WhatsApp is also working on a new layout for its status updates header.

The development was discovered by WABetaInfo via the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.26.13 update available on the Google Play Store.

The update, available to some beta testers, introduces two new buttons on the status updates header in the form of a camera button and pencil icons.

The options serve as shortcuts for users allowing them to seamlessly share images, videos, GIFs, and text as status updates.

This updated arrangement improves the user experience overall and provides a more user-friendly way to share a variety of content, all in line with a more contemporary interface.

Previously, the meta-owned platform featured two floating buttons for content sharing, however, following the introduction of channels, the layout became somewhat muddled.

The new update, with integrated camera and pencil icons, provisions a much more coherent layout for improved user experience.

However, it is to be noted that some users might witness a different layout with these shortcuts listed in the "three-dots" option.
