PESHAWAR: President Asif Ali Zardari addressed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly on Monday and said he had received an education from major politicians of the country and entered politics when his wife, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was killed by an ideology.
During his address, the president emphasised that parliament had been strengthened and attempts to separate Pakistan’s provinces were foiled. The president added that provinces had been given their due rights under this government.
The president further said the completion of five years by the KP assembly was an example of maturity and patience. He prayed and hoped that future generations of Pakistan would continue on the path of democracy as this was in the interest of the country and the rest of the world.
President Zardari condemned the attack on Qazhi Hussain citing that a ideology was bent on destroying Pakistan. He appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the people of KP which allowed democracy to move forward.
The president also spoke of how this ideology had destroyed the traditions of the KP and the people of the province needed to fight this.
