After years of dominance on the football pitch leading to countless accolades, Cristiano Ronaldo has once again proved his unmatched will to win and surpass his colleagues by becoming the "most searched athlete" in Google's history.

Ronaldo, 38, has bagged five Ballon d’Or awards coupled with multiple Champions League titles to his name. However, his latest triumph has been his dominance in the online world — Google's statistics to be precise, reported goal.com.

Taking to social media, Ronaldo posted a video of him echoing his famous celebratory phrase "siu".

"Grateful to be honoured as the most searched athlete in @google history," read the caption on his Instagram account.

The achievement is no surprise as the Portuguese star has around 615 million followers on Instagram alone as compared to his long-time rival Lionel Messi whose Instagram account has 495 million followers.

Although both Ronaldo and Messi are often pitted against each other on the pitch quite often, it seems that the Portuguese striker has no comparison when it comes to appealing to the masses.

The Al Nassr star has staunch supporters spread across the globe and is the leading goal scorer in the history of men's football.

In 2023 alone, he has scored an impressive 50 goals — most by any player in this calendar year, surpassing the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane and of course Messi.
