Bike riding banned in Gilgit

GILGIT: The government has banned motorcycle riding in Gilgit, Geo News reported on Tuesday.

Interior Secretary said that a ban had been imposed on the motorcycle riding that would be applicable till Ashura.

Gilgit and adjacent areas are the worst hit parts of northern Pakistan affected by sectarian violence over the last few months.

Authorities in Karachi have also come up with a ban on riding of the two-wheeler on 9th and 10th Muharram, citing potential terrorist activities in the metropolis.

A couple of days ago Interior Minister Rehman Malik dubbed mobile phone SIMs and motorcycles dangerous weapon.
