In an age where various hacking tools pose a serious threat to the security and privacy of messaging platforms, WhatsApp is rolling out a feature provisioning a caption to mark chats as “end-to-end encrypted” to reflect the platform’s commitment to ensuring users’ privacy and data protection.

The option, available to some beta testers via the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.1.10.73 on the TestFlight app, adds a new encryption label under the contact and group name within the conversations — a move aimed at reaffirming its users of their chats being secure, reported WABetaInfo.

Users can use this information to better understand the security status of their ongoing chats as it provides a visual confirmation that the messages exchanged in that specific conversation are secure from prying eyes or illegal access.

It is intended to momentarily emerge in the chat caption, offering a prompt visual affirmation of secure communication, as it disappears a few seconds to be replaced by the “last seen” info.

This information teaches users about WhatsApp's stern security protocols while also giving them a quick and simple way to identify private conversations.

This new feature reflects WhatsApp’s proactive stance to help users comprehend that the content of their conversations is always private by making the encryption status so obvious.
