Culprits of 5-year-old South Carolina boy Justin Lee Turner murdered in 1989 have finally been caught and will be charged with murder.

The Perpetrators were his own Father and stepmother Skynews reported.

Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis stated during a press conference on Wednesday that Victor Lee Turner, and his wife Megan R Turner, were taken into custody on Tuesday at their home in Cross Hill, which is approximately three and a half hours north of Berkeley County, the scene of the murder.

On the charge of murder, both are admitted to the Hill-Finklea Detention Centre located in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. No bonds have been issued up till now.

According to court records from the sheriff's office, Justin Turner's body was discovered in a camper next to the couple's house, and investigations revealed he was ‘asphyxiated’.

Lewis stated that Megan Turner had been charged in the past, but the complaint had been dismissed without prejudice, meaning that future prosecution was still possible.

Additionally, Lewis noted that he found it strange that the parents showed no interest in the investigation, neither when it happened nor when it was being reexamined at the beginning of 2021.

Citing a forensic analysis of the evidence, investigators concluded that on March 2, 1989, Justin was tragically strangled with the ligature "a short time after consuming his last meal."

According to arrest affidavits submitted by the investigators for each defendant, the ligature was found to match shirt collars worn by the victim thanks to advances in forensic evidence technology and DNA analysis.

According to the records, Megan Turner told witnesses she "had an altercation with the victim" before her reporting that he was last seen.

Furthermore, the reports stated that she gave "misinformation" and contradictory information regarding her movements throughout the time of investigations.
