ISLAMABAD: A defence of journalism rally was held at D-Chowk Islamabad on Wednesday to register a protest against attempted terrorist attack on a senior journalist and Geo TV’s anchor Hamid Mir.
The rally was jointly organized by Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ). Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira‚ political leaders and representatives of the journalistic community participated in the protest.
While addressing the participants Information Minister said that government is taking all possible measures for safety and well being of journalists.
He condemned attempted attack on Hamid Mir and said we have to fight the extremist mindset that wants to impose its will on others.
It was pertinent to mention here that Hamid Mir was escaped a bid on his life on Monday when bomb disposal squad defused a bomb planted under his car in Islamabad.
