The mysterious death of three Missouri men is under investigation by Kansas City police after their remains were found in a backyard after they reportedly froze to death following a visit to their friend’s home to celebrate a Kansas City Chiefs victory.

The bodies of Clayton McGeeney, 36, David Harrington, 37, and Ricky Johnson, 38, were found outside a home on NW 83rd Terrace. Two of the bodies were found in the backyard and one on the back porch two days after their last sighting.

The police do not suspect foul play and the deaths are not being investigated as homicides.

The three men arrived at their friend, including Jordan Willis’s home on 7 January around 9pm to celebrate the Chiefs' victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

After the game, Willis went to sleep on his couch, unaware of the friends' deaths until police arrived on January 9 and found their remains.

The men seemingly died due to hypothermia, according to Willis’s attorney John Picerno, because that weekend, Kansas City saw below-freezing temperatures.

"Jordan had absolutely nothing to do with their deaths," Picerno said in that statement to The Independent, adding that he doesn't know the cause and manner of death nor he is aware why the bodies went undiscovered for two days.

Picerno says that Willis was unaware that his friends’ loved ones had been trying to locate his three missing friends.

"Two people came to his house; however, he did not hear them as he sleeps with earbuds and a loud fan," Picerno added. "One of those people, the wife of one of the deceased, tried to reach him via Facebook messenger, unfortunately, he did not see the message until after the police contacted him."

The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) is investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident.

KCPD Captain Jake Becchina told Fox News Digital that Willis had been cooperative with the investigation and he was not considered a suspect.

“There have not been any arrests [or] charges, and no one is in custody. There are no specific threats or concerns for the surrounding community at this time,” Becchina said.
