Recently, in a quirky case making its way to a family court, a newly married woman filed for divorce from her husband after he turned a promised romantic honeymoon in Goa into a religious yatra to Ayodhya.

The case involving the newly-wed couple, who tied the knot just five months ago, was reported at the family court 10 days after the couple returned from their trip, the Free Press Journal reported.

The couple from Bhopal's Piplani got married in August of 2023.

The woman revealed that she, along with her husband who works in the information technology (IT) sector, earns well. Thus, it was not a big deal for them to go overseas for honeymoon.

According to the woman's statements, her husband declined her overseas honeymoon proposal, saying that he had to care for his parents and suggested they visit a place within India.

She agreed and decided to go on a trip to Goa and South India.

Later, her husband booked air tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi upon his mother's wish to visit the city ahead of the Ram Mandir consecration.

He informed his wife a day before embarking on the trip and she went without creating a ruckus.

However, the woman filed for divorce last week on Friday after returning from a 10-day trip, adding a claim that her husband took more care of his family members than her.

The husband, however, claimed his wife was creating a fuss about the issue.

The couple is currently being counselled by an advocate at Bhopal's family court.
