Jamaat-e-Islami's (JI) chief Siraj ul Haq lost elections to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed independent candidate Muhammad Bashir Khan with a margin of over 20,000 votes in NA-6 (Lower Dir-I) constituency.
Haq bagged 52,545 votes against his rival who won seat by securing 76,259 votes.
Candidates
Jamaat-e-Islami's (JI) chief Siraj ul Haq, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed independent candidate Muhammad Bashir Khan, Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) Muhammad Hanif Khan, Awami National Party's (ANP) Bahadar Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) Rooh Ullah Khan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam's (JUI) Muhammad Sher khan will are some of the candidates contested for the said seat.
The NA-6 constituency comprises Lal Qila Tehsil, Samarbagh Tehsil Munda Tehsil, and Balambat Tehsil excluding Rabat Union Council of Lower Dir District.
In the 2018 general elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Mehboob Shah secured victory by 63,440 votes with Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal's (MMA) Molana Asadullah in second place with 36,665 votes.
The constituency has a total population of 1,650,183 of whom 457,075 are registered voters, including 253,972 male and 203,103 female voters.
