Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed (PTI) Ali Amin Khan Gandapur clinched the seat in NA-44 Dera Ismail Khan-I constituency by beating Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
He received 92,244 votes in the February 8 elections.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed (PTI) Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Faisal Karim Kundi, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) Muhammad Shafiq Ul Hai, Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Muhammad Yousaf Khan and others vied for the National Assembly seat from the said constituency.
The NA-44 Dera Ismail Khan-I constituency — formerly NA-38 Dera Ismail Khan-I — comprises Paharpur Tehsil, Charge No 5 of DI Khan Tehsil, DI Khan Cantonment's Charge No 1, along with Shor Kot and Chahkan Qanungo Halqas of DI Khan Tehsil excluding Kotla Saidan Patwar Circle.
In the previous 2018 general elections, PTI's Ali Amin Khan Gandapur won by 80,236 votes with Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal's (MMA) candidate Maulana Fazlur Rehman securing second place with 45,457 votes.
The constituency's population stands at 772,742 with 391,882 registered voters — of which 208,481 and 183,401 are male and female voters, respectively.
