Rigging during by-elections: Pervaiz Elahi

FAISALABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Sunday alleged that there was rigging during the by-elections in Punjab.

Addressing a rally here, Elahi said the voter turnout witnessed a sharp increase overnight, as rigging was conducted through teachers and policemen. He said despite clear cut violations, the Election Commission of Pakistan had failed to take any action.

Elahi was critical of the Punjab government stating that the law and order situation in the province had deteriorated.

The PML-Q leader claimed that 100 robberies were being committed in the same neighbourhood where Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif lived.
