DALLAS: Prominent leader of Muslim American community The founder Chairman of Muslim Caucus in Democratic Party, Dr. Inayat Lalani passed away after short illness.

Dr Lalani is buried in Burleson Muslim symmetry Ar- Rawdah with sadness in the air, grief, sorrow and tears in the community's eyes.

The funeral prayer was performed by a prominent scholar and Imam of mosque Ibraheem in Fort Worth. Dr. Lalani had suffered a heart attack during a fund raising ceremony for a local mosque last month.

A number of Doctors present during the fund raiser gave him immediate help and arranged immediately to get him to the hospital where he was admitted into coronary care unit.

He seemed to be recovering though still in serious condition in hospital. However, his condition suddenly deteriorated last night which ended in him meeting his creator.

The news of Dr. Lalani's passing away spread like wildfire in the city, hundreds of community members and activists attended his funeral at Ibrahimi Masjid in Fort Worth Texas.

Imam of Ibrahimi masjid Imam Mujahid Bakhash addressing the grieving attendees of the funeral said that this is what the reality of life is.

Late Dr. Lalani was buried in Muslim Cemetery in Burleson Texas amidst hundreds of friends and family members. Among community notables, Chairman of American Muslim Democratic Caucus Syed Fayyaz Hassan, Texas MDC President Aftab Siddiqui, Dallas Peace Center activist Hadi Jawwad, Muslim Community Center for Human Services founder Dr. Basheer Ahmad, Tarrant County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Nizam Pirwani, Dr. Farooq Salod, Ghulam Waraich, Ghulam Jangda, Imam Dr. Yousuf Kavachi, ISNA Vice President Azhar Aziz, Tarrant County Democratic Party Chair. Steve Maxwell and its Executive Director Keith Ennis, Ghulam Bakali, Mr. Syed Ilyas from Austin, Javed Sher and Niaz Ahmad from Houston, Farooq Khan, Dr. Akhtar Ali Shah, Saeed Qureshi, Shah Alam, Raja Muzaffar Kashmiri, MDC Executive committee members Emad Salem and Tariq jaffery, radio 1220 owner Pervez Malik and Seema Malik, Moufa Nehas and a number of community activists and civic and political leaders were present in his funeral.

A fateha khwani and special prayers for Dr. Lalani is scheduled on Wednesday, December 12, at 7 PM at Masjid e Ibrahimi in Fort Worth. Late Dr. Lalani has left behind his wife, Salma Lalani, son Quresh Lalani, daughter Fatema Sher and son in law Yousuf Sher. Late Dr. Lalani was author of a book and several handouts, training materials and columns. He was mentioned as a great visionary in Ex. Congressman Paul Findlay's books and were quoted in a large number of periodicals and newspapers,

Dr. Lalani is hailed from Junagadh in India; he came to US in early 70's. He was the steering Committee chairman where coalition of Muslim organizations hosted the Ballot Box Barbecue event at Texas Stadium.

The event was participated by more than fifteen thousand Muslims of North Texas; leadership of all political parties spoke to the occasion. Dr. Lalani is a known political activist who has provided leadership to Muslims and given a vision especially after 9/11.

Dr. Lalani is dedicated in achieving rightful stature for Muslims in political discourse and has done a tremendous amount of work on Muslims civil rights. As a visionary and founder Chairman of Muslim Democratic Caucus, Dr. Lalani has created a platform for Muslims within Democratic Party. He also Auther one book name Albani,
