It's official! After weeks of teasers, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to return to the ring eight years after his last World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) match in 2016, USA Today reported Saturday.

The Rock will be teaming up with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns to face Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 on April 6.

The match between Rhodes and Rollins on night one of the two-day event will determine if The Bloodline — a villainous professional wrestling stable — will be barred from ringside on night two for the main event match between Reigns and Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

If The Rock and Reigns win, it will be Bloodline rules, which means The Rock will do "everything" to ensure Rhodes doesn't win the title.

The "biggest tag team match" between Rhodes and Rollins was officially announced during Friday's "Smackdown". Rhodes expressed his desire for a match against The Rock, and Rollins promised Rhodes' support if a match took place.

The conditions were initially proposed by The Rock.

Fans were expecting a WrestleMania match since The Rock appeared to challenge Reigns at WWE's flagship event, despite Rhodes winning the 2024 Royal Rumble and announcing Reigns as his WrestleMania opponent.

WWE fans reacted negatively to Rhodes' decision to invoke his title match at WrestleMania 40, following Reigns' announcement that he and The Rock would face off in the ring.

The Rock will mark his first WWE match since 2016 when he defeated Erick Rowan in six seconds at WrestleMania 32.
