The Kansas City Chiefs are signing their defensive tackle, Chris Jones, undefined to a five-year $95 million deal following months of speculation, ESPN reported on Saturday.

The deal makes Jones, 29,  the highest paid defensive tackle in the history of the National Football League (NFL) on a "per-year" basis, Sports Illustrated reported citing ESPN.

Jones, who won his third Super Bowl with Kansas City last month, went unnoticed by many outside of Kansas City during the team's season which was full of captivating narratives.

Last year, Jones missed the Chiefs' training camp and season opener against the Denver Lions, holding out for a long-term deal but he finished with 10.5 sacks and was named first team ll-Pro by the Associated Press.

For Jones, 2023 was the last year of a four-year, $80 million contract he signed in July 2020.

To celebrate his contract, Jones took to X, formerly Twitter, sharing a an image of himself hugging Chiefs other defensive tackle Mike Pennel.

He captioned the post: "KC….5 more years of greatness! 3x".
