United Airlines experienced its fifth flight incident within a week when a jet had to return to Sydney due to a maintenance problem two hours into its journey to San Francisco, CNN reported.

The Boeing 777-300 plane, with 183 passengers and crew onboard safely landed back in Sydney after the airline redirected it. Passengers were accommodated overnight. Rebooked for their San Francisco destination as per United Airlines statement.

This incident on United flight 830 is part of a series of mishaps for the US airline. A week ago, an engine caught fire midair after ingesting bubble wrap. Another flight had a tire issue post takeoff.

Additionally there was an incident where a United Airlines aircraft skidded off the runway into terrain and another flight bound for Mexico City from San Francisco was diverted to Los Angeles due to system problems.

Boeing, the US aircraft manufacturer is facing increased scrutiny due, to quality and safety concerns arising in times.
