It is a natural reaction induced in our bodies to cope up with the tough environmental circumstances we're exposed to, as a result of a fight or flight response.

However, how a person manages stress has a significant effect on the overall well-being of an individual.

Stress management:

Disturbance in sleep or appetite, feeling emotional or nervous are all completely normal reactions to stress.

Here are some tips to manage stress during situations of difficulty:

1. Self-care:

Even though a long self-care routine may not be possible for many of us in a hectic every day schedule, however, it is possible to take care of our skin with a 5 minute all-purpose face mask or just taking out five minutes to properly and gently comb your hair.

If you are someone who enjoys food, indulging yourself in a homemade pasta recipe or a refreshing drink can also do wonders in managing stress.

2. Take care of your body:

Apart from mental health, it is important to also take care of your body by deep breathing and meditating, to refresh your brain.

Eating a healthy and well-balanced diet along with physical exercise also plays a significant role in maintaining the physical health of your body as well as stress management.

3. Avoid illicit substances and drugs:

Illicit substances and drugs may seem like they reduce anxiety and stress, however the after effects of their consumption have long-term consequences that include declining organ health.

Meanwhile, withdrawal symptoms of alcoholism or drug consumption mainly causes a person to display random emotional outbursts as well as increased stress levels.

4. Recognize when you need professional help:

Another step in managing your stress levels is recognizing when things are not under your control and professional help is required to manage that.

Stress getting out of hand could show off as either continuous procrastination to a level where it affects daily life tasks, along with suicidal thoughts.

These thoughts are not okay and need to be discussed professionally with a counselor or a psychiatrist, who would be able to help you manage the stress and pressure you might be enduring.

Stress is unavoidable in the fast-paced world we live in however it is quite straight forward to manage it along the tedious tasks of our life if one were to dedicate a maximum of 15 minutes to ourselves, every day.
