A family dog on Fuller Avenue in East Hartford killed a 1-year-old infant as the family planned the celebrations of the baby’s first birthday that night, according to local authorities.

The child’s family said that the attack took place when Lennox was playing with his mom. They also told the local media that their dog never acted aggressively in the past.

Lennox’s father was quoted as saying in an NBC Connecticut report: "If the dog would have been aggressive or anything like that, trust and believe he wouldn’t have been around the baby."

Neighbour said that he heard the screams and rushed to help but could not.

The resident said: "I tried to fight off two Pitbulls and help the baby as much as I could. One minute seemed like forever. [It was] a long battle."

The 1-year-old baby’s aunt said that Lennox was in the ambulance alive and he fought and tried to stay with us as long as he could.

The attack also injured the infant’s pregnant mother who was tearful and recalled how the dog “got onto the trampoline, then he grabbed the baby”.

The child was critically injured and succumbed to his wounds when he was transported to the hospital.

According to the description by the Police, the dog was a mixed breed. The other one was also taken from the residence where the attack happened.
