NEW DELHI: At least nine Pakistan hockey players will be seen in action in the Hockey India League which is going to be introduced on the pattern of Indian Premier League of cricket in India.
The first Hockey India League will be played between five franchised teams nest year.
An auction was held for buying players by the franchised teams. The players sold out at the auction included nine Pakistan players.
The most costly player from Pakistan was Mohammad Rashid who was purchased by Bombay Magicians for $41,000.
The Mumbai franchised team bought Fareed Ahmed for $21,000, Mohammad Tauseeq for $27,000 and goalkeeper Imran Butt for $5,500.
Delhi Wave Riders bought Mohammad Rizwan for $25,000 and Rizwan Junior for $10,000.
Another Pakistan player Kashif Shah was bought by Punjab Warriors for $9,500.
Forward Shafqat Rasool and Mohammad Irfan were purchased by Ranchi Rhinos for $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
No team showed any interest to buy Pakistan hockey team captain Mohammad Imran, forward Abdul Haseem Khan and Mohammad Waqas.
