ISLAMABAD: Many among the Pakistani lawmakers – prohibited to have foreign nationalities – have their businesses and houses in other parts of the world, according to statements of the assets filed by members of the National Assembly.

After going through the official data available publically, TheNews reporter Usman Manzoor revealed that State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rehman owns a house in United Kingdom worth Rs10 million.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s former chief minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti of Awami National Party (ANP) has 24 per cent shares in al-Auqab Transport Dubai (registered in his wife’s name) worth 144,000 dirham.

PTI’s Khail Zaman Aurakzai, MNA from NA-16, owns a house in Ajman, UAE and three more properties in the same state worth over Rs2 billion.

Muhammad Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, a new entrant in PTI and MNA from NA-108, holds 49 per cent shares in Kuwait-Pakistan Intl Co (USD 810215).

Hafiz Abdul Karim of NA-172 has mentioned that he has invested some Rs12 million abroad while holding properties worth Rs5 million outside Pakistan. MNA from NA-196 Mian Imtiaz Ahmad has a business capital worth Rs43.5 million abroad.

Mir Ameer Ali Khan Magsi, MNA from NA-206, has mentioned in his assets details that he owns a flat in Dubai worth Rs12 million. PML-F chief Pir Syed Sadruddin Shah Rashidi has two properties in the UK (in his spouse name), worth Rs85.8 million and Rs101 million.

Makhdoom Amin Fahim has mentioned that an apartment in Al-Dasara-2 Green Dubai, titled held in the name of his wife is worth 2.6 million UAE Dirhams.

Malik Asad Sikander has two flats in Bangkok, one worth Rs25 million while instalments worth Rs10 million have been paid against the other while he also owns a flat in Burj al-Khalifa, Dubai, which is valued at Rs75 million but according to him it was gifted to him.

Sohail Mansoor Khawaja owns two apartments worth Rs3.5 million and 3.4 million respectively in Ajman; an apartment in London worth Rs11 million, an apartment worth Rs9.6 million in Canada in his wife’s name; he also owns a plot and a unit in Canada both respectively valued at Rs25.8 million and 71.4 million respectively.

Alezah Iqbal Haider holds two apartments in Dubai which have been gifted by her father and are worth approximately 1.65 million dirham. MNA Farhana Qamar owns a house worth Rs53.4 million in UK.
