COLOMBO: Sri Lanka's government says flash floods and mudslides have killed near 20 people, with scores of others reported missing, in two days of heavy rain in many parts of the country.
A Disaster Management Center report on Wednesday said that nearly 10,000 people have been displaced from their homes.
Many roads have been inundated. The report says troops have been deployed in rescue and relief operations.
