Zoe Saldana discussed Gamora's fate in an upcoming episode of The Playlist's "Discourse" podcast and shed light on her future as Nyota Uhura for the fourth Star Trek installment.
Talking in the forthcoming episode, the American actress revealed that she was ‘done’ playing Gamora along with Dave Bautista who recently revealed that this will be his “last version of Guardian of the Galaxy” where he portrayed Drax.
Now in the forthcoming episode, Saldana was asked if she was ‘done’ with her character, given that the original director has moved to DC from Marvel.
To which she replied, “I mean, so far, I think that she is [gone for good] for me, but I don’t think Gamora has gone for good”, before suggesting that Gamora must still exist in the Cinematic Universe and calling it a "huge loss" if Marvel "didn’t find a way to bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy”,
She added, “It’s just such a fan-favorite group of misfits. And then at the helm, they had a voice like James Gunn’s writing, which is just so marvelous for this genre”.
Although the 45-year-old actress wrapped her role as the skilled Andromeda assassin, she hopes to reprise her role as Nyota Uhura in Star Trek.
As Paramount hired Steve Yockey for Star Trek 4's screenplay, the Avatar star admitted her interest and confessed, “I still have hope. I had a wonderful experience through and through and through the three times that I was a part of that team.”
For those unversed, Saldana played Gamora in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, reprising the role in 2017's sequel, 2018's Infinity War, 2019's Endgame, and 2023's Guardians 3.
Conversely, she portrayed famed Uhura in 2009's Star Trek, 2013's Into Darkness, and 2016's Beyond.
