Zoe Saldana, Marco Perego get candid about their marriage proposal

Zoe Saldana's husband, Marco Perego just got candid about how “dramatic” his marriage proposal to the Avatar star was.

In the couple’s latest appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, they discussed the sweet story of how the two got engaged.

The 45-year-old Italian producer and director, revealed how he travelled to the Dominican Republic, not just to thank his now-in-laws but to visit Saldana’s late father’s grave to ask for his blessings.

"Zoe is a little spicy as a Latina, and I say to Zoe, 'I'm going to New York. I need to do something for work,'" Perego recalled.

"I actually went to the Dominican Republic, [to say] thanks [to] her stepfather and all the family who support me," and the actress chimed in, “"[He went to see] my father's grave.”

"I asked him if can marry her," Perego added.

However, The Absence of Eden director recalled Saldana had a rather hasty reaction when Perego asked her to wait a few hours before he could tell her anything.

Zoe Saldana eventually listened to Perego, who was then, able to show her the video taken at her father’s grave, and proceeded to ask her to marry him.
