Andrew Scott seemingly had a tough time portraying the character of Tom Ripley.
As fans will know, the 47-year-old Irish actor stars as the protagonist in the show The Talented Mr. Ripley, which is based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith.
Spilling the beans on this gig, the star spoke to Jimmy Kimmel on the latest episode of his show.
He started the topic by admitting, “It was genuinely terrifying, because he would be good at speaking Italian.”
Andrew went on to explain his troubles as he mentioned, “So I'm an Irish playing an American which also speaks Italian, but I'm also an Irish playing an American imitating another American, speaking Italian.”
“You want to get those details right. It's for one's own pride,” he also remarked.
“The challenge of it was 'How do you make the audience feel what it's like to be Tom Ripley, rather that where we might usually go, which is to feel like to be a victim of Tom Ripley',” the actor also observed.
Elaborating further on his character of a serial killer, the star said, “He's the protagonist he's not the antagonist, so it asks us to look at what's dark within ourselves,” and which he moved on to the next topic.
