FAISALABAD: Intelligence agencies have arrested two suspected militants in connection with the deadly suicide attack on martyred Punjab home minister Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada here on Wednesday.
Sources told Geo News that local suspects in Attock, where Sunday’s attack was carried out, collaborated with the terrorists.
According to further details into the probe, more than one terrorist outfits were involved in the attack that killed at least 18 others and injured dozens.
Most wanted terrorists Matiur Rehman is also likely to be involved in the attack. Rehman is wanted for the attempted assassination of former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf in 2003.
He was also wanted for attacks on former prime minister Shaukat Aziz and suicide bombing on Sheraton Hotel in Karachi and carried Rs10 million head money.
Meanwhile, police and intelligence agencies have started interrogating local residents as part of the probe. Rawalpindi Division’s Attock District holds 181, the most number of suspects in the country.
