Makhdoom Mehmood to be sworn in as Punjab governor today

LAHORE: Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood will take oath as Punjab Governor in a ceremony today (Tuesday), Geo News reported.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) MPA from Punjab resigned after Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari decided to appoint him as governor during a meeting held in Karachi also attended by Mehmood and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Media reports said Gilani played key role in appointing Mehmood as governor. However, PML-F chief Pir Pagara said his party had nothing to do with the appointment of Makhdoom Ahmed as Punjab Governor and he had resigned from the party.
