John Cena says he is not denying the rumours of tension between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel when he joined Fast and Furious.
In a chat with Armchair Expert, the DC hero said, “There’s certainly rumors about that, I can’t deny that,” noting, “You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two, there can only be one.”
The wrestler-cum-actor remarks come after The Mummy star posted a cryptic post online in 2016 hinting at being at odds with the franchise lead Vin, however, he did not take his name.
In this context, John joined the octane-thriller franchise in 2021 after The Rock's departure.
“I’m being invited into someone’s home, into someone’s family, and regardless of how they look physically in comparison into another human being,” the 46-year-old remembered.
“This is one IP that is nine installments, and it’s an action movie. That’s rarefied air. … At the very least, there has to be respect for that.”
John doubled down on his role to be part of the successful franchise though at the same time avoiding to take place in conflicts.
“I’m not trying to get in the sandbox, that’s not my thing,” he continued. “I’m grateful for what you’ve given me. I just want to be the best fire truck I can.”
