In an exclusive interview with NYLON for their cover story, the 54-year-old songstress, opened up about how she faced challenges like self-doubt while penning the duet, featuring her husband, Blake Shelton.
Stefani revealed she was extremely anxious to go back into the studio again as she juggled dealing with the "insecurities" she felt about her marriage.
“I had been going through those times where you’re questioning: ‘Oh my gosh, am I just getting older? Am I cute?’” the Luxurious crooner told the outlet.
She continued, “In my own relationship, even though I know the truth of what’s happening today.”
“You still create drama in your own mind about your insecurities and what might happen. I was in that phase of the relationship with Blake and getting paranoid,” Stefani further explained.
Stefani also remembers sending herself a text with the words "Purple Irises," in order to recall the memory of the artist and her husband discovering the flower growing on Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch.
