White House held state dinner for Japan PM to commemorate alliance between both nations

United States President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden held a state dinner to welcome the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida to the White House earlier this week.

The Bidens hosted a combined official visit and state dinner to commemorate the alliance of between the two nations with a who's who crowd of billionaires and business titans including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez and Apple CEO Tim Cook among others.

Furthermore, businessmen including CEO of Chase Bank Jamie Dimon and his wife, President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga and his wife, and former president Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton also showed up for the event.

"This visit also reflects the upward trajectory of the US-Japan Alliance as it evolves into a global partnership that promotes a shared vision of progress and prosperity for the future.

The two leaders’ ambitious efforts span the depth and breadth of the Alliance to include cooperation on defense and security; space; advanced technology and economic cooperation; diplomacy and development; and people-to-people ties," the administration said in its briefing fact sheet.

The event highlighted private investments from Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Toyota, as well as educational exchange programs supported by Apple and the Blackrock Foundation.

The dinner even saw the chairman of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell.
