A district judge has ruled in favour of Drake after he removed the Canadian rapper's name from the lawsuit that dealt with the tragedy of the Astroworld festival in 2021.
The dismissal of the case must come as a relief for the Grammy winner as the families of victims—who died at the concert of Travis Scott from a crowd surge in Houston where Drake made a guest appearance—sued the latter along with others in the high-profile case.
The state District Judge Kristen Hawkins issued a brief order that dismissed the One Dance rapper from the case after his lawyers argued he was not part of the concert organizers, the Associated Press reported.
Drake previously addressed the deadly incident that saw the death of ten people and hundreds injured.
"I've spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy," the 37-year-old shared on social media.
He continued, "I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself."
Noting, "My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all."
